MANILA – The team of Grammy winner Beyonce has supposedly consulted Gab Valenciano for the music video of the global R&B superstar's latest single “7/11.”
In his Instagram account on Saturday, Valenciano reposted a snippet of “7/11’s” music video that was released by Beyonce.
In the caption, Valenciano said, unedited: “So this just happened. Still pretty overwhelmed. Check out the whole video on Beyonce.com #blessed #regram @beyonce”
Many of his followers noticed the video’s resemblance to his “super selfies” with some netizens asking if Beyonce actually stole the concept from him.
However, Valenciano’s aunt, Maria Rita Cecilia Arenas, posted a comment and said: “Gab was officially consulted by her team, so the signature moves weren’t stolen. They were authorized.”
Valenciano started uploading "super selfies" online in August 2013. His videos, which typically feature snappy dance moves and quick cuts, have collectively garnered millions of views.
Some of his “super selfies” were even picked up by international media, including People magazine and Huffington Post.
As of writing, Beyonce’s post already has more than 50,000 “likes” and over 43,000 comments.
